Most ExxonMobil employees are eligible to receive a pension once you are vested as a retiree. Generally, most ExxonMobil employees become vested when you have 15 years of benefit service and are age 55 or older.
Most U.S. dollar payroll employees at ExxonMobil are eligible for this plan
Vesting takes place after 5 years of service or when you reach age 65
If you retire before age 62, your pension will include a Social Security offset.
ExxonMobil’s pension plan has a lump sum option as well as many monthly annuity choices.
Pension Formula | ExxonMobil Pension Plan
The basic pension benefit is calculated as follows:
1.6% x years of pension service x final average pensionable pay
minus
Social Security offset
Discounted by segment interest rates
Final average pensionable pay is your highest 3 years of pay in the last 10 years of employment
In 2026, income over the IRS compensation limit of $360,000 is contributed to your additional payments and non-qualified pension plan
Payment Options | ExxonMobil Pension Plan
Retirees may choose from a variety of payment options for their qualified pension plan.
Payment options: basic annuity, qualified joint & survivor annuity, joint annuity, lump sum.
You can obtain a copy of your pension estimate either through Alight’s online system or by calling 1-833-776-9966.
The qualified lump sum pension is treated as a non-taxable event when rolled over to a Traditional IRA at retirement. There is no tax due until you withdraw funds from the pension. If you withdraw funds before age 59.5, you may also be subject to an early withdrawal penalty of 10%.
