Is $2 million enough to retire on?

$2 million isn't worth quite as much as it was pre-COVID in 2019. Depending on your time horizon though, $2 million still may be enough to retire on in 2026.

The biggest factor is your allocation to equities. For years, retirees have been told to invest in a 60/40 portfolio (60% stocks, 40% bonds). If we did that for clients in the 1980's, they would have run out of money.

Stocks for the Long Run - Dr. Jeremy Siegel

Dr. Jeremy Siegel is one of the most important thought leaders on Wall Street. He had a front row seat to the inflationary mess of the 1970’s that destroyed real returns in fixed income markets, leading him to explain why stocks are a claim on assets unlike bonds.

Professor Siegel’s research on equities goes back over 220 years and proves why stocks are critical for investors and retirees who need to beat inflation over time.

Now in its 6th edition, “Stocks For The Long Run” is one of the best selling investment books of all time, where Dr. Siegel makes the case why equities have outperformed all other asset classes.

We had the privilege of interviewing Professor Siegel on our Bullish podcast this week. The episode is now live on YouTube, Apple, and Spotify and is a can’t miss.
